Luzon's Hidden Gem
1.) Maligcong Rice Terraces
Step into this beauty at Bontoc, Mountain Province to witness and capture the indigenous locals in their element. Side note: Maligcong actually means “surrounded by rice paddies” in their dialect. Thank the adventure gods, Maligcong is only a 30-minute jeepney ride from the city (or you could always do the 1.5 hour trek). Book your stay around May to July and witness the harvest in full bloom!

2.) Quitinday Green Hills, Camalig Albay
About an hour from Legazpi City, Albay’s provincial capital, lies the sleepy town of Camalig. Here, you’ll find one of the province’s hidden gems: Quitinday Hills, a 400-hectare sweep of verdant terrain that’s reminiscent of Bohol’s famed Chocolate Hills.
Once you get to the top of the hill, you’ll have a choice of several viewing areas. One of these is a swath of even ground lying between two mounds, thereby affording visitors a different perspective of the hills. Here, you’ll find a nipa hut, where you can catch your breath while admiring the expanse of rolling hills and jagged peaks.
Alternatively, climb up onto one of the mounds, where you’ll be able to glimpse the looming form of Mount Mayon amidst the knolls. The view makes for a postcard-worthy photo on a clear day.
How to get there
From Legazpi City, take a tricycle (₱20, good for three persons) to Bañag. Once there, ride a jeepney with “Polanque” signage and alight at the Quitinday junction. Then, rent a tricycle for the round trip to Quitinday Hills; it’ll cost you between ₱300 to ₱750, depending on the size of your group.
3.) Jomalig Island (Quezon Province)
Jomalig is a lesser-known island municipality in Quezon Province. It boasts of gold and white beaches, the reason why many backpackers call it a desert paradise in the middle of the ocean. Feast your eyes on its two breathtaking beaches: The Kanaway Beach on the east side facing the Pacific Ocean, and the Salibungot Beach on the west-facing Lamon Bay.
Enjoy a gastronomic adventure by tasting some of the exotic seafood the island offers: Lobster, shrimps, crab, and the fish called surahan, considered by people in Pollilo Islands as the world’s most delicious.

Perfect! I didnt know that Maligcong Terraces exist
