Mindanao Adventure 1.)   Misamis Occidental Aquamarine Park If interacting with diverse marine life excites you, then definitely visit Misamis Occidental Aquamarine Park (MOAP). It’s home to a number of marine mammals, fish hatcheries and the ever-popular Dolphin Island. This man-made sanctuary was built as a shelter for lost or stranded dolphins, where handlers take care of these creatures until they regain their health – then send them back into the open sea. Apart from interacting and swimming with the dolphins, you can also go snorkelling, explore their mangrove forests, or enjoy the sea breeze at MOAP’s beach resort. 2.)  Lake Mainit Sitting almost equidistant between Surigao del Norte and Agusan del Sur provinces, you’ll find the country’s fourth largest freshwater lake. Lake Mainit, one of the deepest lakes in the country, has highly diverse aquatic resources and rich flora and fauna. It’s home to a variety of fish species, including the rare  pu...

Visayas Escapade 1.) Carnaza Island Check out the interesting rock formations in this island’s cove located in Cebu. Carnaza Island is a  174-hectare turtle-shaped island in the Northern Cebu. This undisturbed island in Cebu is a hidden spot from the crowd. After all, most tourists prefer Malapascua island (which is relatively nearer and easier to go to) than Carnaza. But once you got to the island, you won’t regret the hassle. The stunning waters and untapped wonder are perfect for an eye-catching Instagram feed. Then, drive up the north and catch a boat ride at Tapilon Port. There’s also a hill where you can see an overlooking view of the coastline and other parts of the island. 2.)  Pinipisakan Falls & Sulpan Cave Fall in love with the beautiful cascading waters flowing almost infinitely at Pinipisakan Falls in Samar. The view is so beautiful you might mistake this hidden gem as something you just see in computer wallpapers. Be prepared for a long ride, ...

Luzon's Hidden Gem 1.)  Maligcong Rice Terraces Step into this beauty at Bontoc, Mountain Province to witness and capture the indigenous locals in their element. Side note: Maligcong actually means “surrounded by rice paddies” in their dialect. Thank the adventure gods, Maligcong is only a 30-minute jeepney ride from the city (or you could always do the 1.5 hour trek). Book your stay around May to July and witness the harvest in full bloom! 2.) Quitinday Green Hills, Camalig Albay About an hour from Legazpi City, Albay’s provincial capital, lies the sleepy town of Camalig. Here, you’ll find one of the province’s hidden gems: Quitinday Hills, a 400-hectare sweep of verdant terrain that’s reminiscent of Bohol’s famed Chocolate Hills. Once you get to the top of the hill, you’ll have a choice of several viewing areas. One of these is a swath of even ground lying between two mounds, thereby affording visitors a different perspective of the hills. Here, you’ll fi...
